Band 6 midwife Beatrice tells us about joining us from Italy!

Hello everyone!

My name is Beatrice and I joined the Frimley family 5 years ago.

I graduated in Italy and decided to come here to England not long after my graduation. When I moved here, my English was terrible and understanding the British accent was very challenging, so I decided to work as an au pair and as a waitress for a few months. When my English improved I finally applied for my PIN number and passed my interview at Frimley and 5 years later I am still here J

I remember very well when I started. I was so scared! I graduated in another Country and almost 2 years passed since I helped a woman delivering her baby, and I was still a student when all that happened! But everyone at Frimley welcomed me with a smile and helped me to feel part of the family.

At the very beginning you are going to shadow a midwife for quite few shifts in the different areas of maternity, which surprised me, as this doesn’t often happen in Italy! And don’t you worry; we won’t leave you alone soon after that. When my supernumery ended, I felt well supported as a newly qualified midwife and the preceptorship program helps you to grow and feel more confident with your skills. I never actually felt as if I was left alone, even now when I need a second opinion or just an extra pair of hands, I just ask and someone always comes and helps me.

It can be very busy and challenging sometimes, but we will look after you and make sure you will feel part of the Frimley family!
